A little about us:
Seymour Beauty Academy of Seymour Cosmetology Inc. has been successfully training individuals in Cosmetology and Nail Technology for about 10 years. However the business has evolved out of a privately family owned Cosmetology business and school dating back to the 1950s. Some of those former students have gone on to receive national and international recognition for their skills. The school is located in the small community of Seymour, Missouri on the west side of the city square. We are about 35 miles east of Springfield, MO just off highway 60.
New Hours of Operation:
We have recently changed to a 4 day week, 8:30 AM to 5:00PM with 1/2 hour for lunch.
We believe this benefits the student by allowing more time to learn and take care of personal responsibilities.
Goals:
To develop a superior program of study that meets and exceeds the State required standards for schools of cosmetology in Missouri in order to produce skilled and knowledgeable professional cosmetologists who will be prepared with the necessary fundamentals to enter the cosmetology field;
To create an exceptional environment and atmosphere in which all students can learn;
To help each student achieve his or her own professional goals and develop life skills other than cosmetology skills;
To adhere to a code of ethics that is empathetic with all individuals, treating them with courtesy and compassion regardless of physical appearance, educational or financial levels;
To have the administration and faculty continually seek to improve their own knowledge, the quality of the school and its programs;
To produce a reasonable profit, which will ensure growth and improvement in the students, staff, facilities and equipment;
To ensure that all administration, faculty, and students work together as team and provide support to each other.
Student Funding:
Seymour Beauty Academy is licensed by the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology. The Academy is approved to receive Workforce Investment Act educational funding, State of Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation funding, and Veterans Benefits funding for qualified students. There are also other loan sources available to students who qualify. If funding is a problem, please let our financial advisors go over the possibilities with you.
Enrollment Requirements
Applicants for Cosmetology, Hairdressing, and Nail Technology must provide proof of age and be 17 years of age by the time application is made for State examination. They must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. For the Instructor Training course, the applicants must provide proof of successful completion of a twelfth grade education with a diploma or GED certificate, and a sworn statement that the applicant is in good physical and mental health. The applicant is only eligible for an Instructor Trainee license for the classified occupations for which the applicant is currently licensed as an operator. |
